Both silver and copper are the metal of civilization, which are essential to life. From serving the most important purposes since ancient times, metals are now widely used in the electrical industry and to clean water. In general, both have achieved sustainable development over the past decades. When they both come in one form, nothing could be invented better than silver-plated copper wires. The product has different essential properties, which give it many reasons for its use in all industrial applications.

The wires are a profitable manufacture that has more benefits than the traditional ones. They have an excellent heat transfer coefficient and are suitable for almost all electrical applications. They are great for lowering overall system cost and use less energy compared to other products.

Essential Properties of Silver Plated Copper Wires:-

Chemical properties – Most of the common metals and alloys react with water and even with the humid environment, which causes oxidation of the cables. However, silver is a noble metal, which is not affected or reacted with water like copper. In all hot and cold and humid environments, these metals are highly resistant to corrosion, which most metals are not. Both silver and copper are placed in the same group on the periodic table, which means they both have excellent chemical resistance properties and are relatively inert towards harmful chemicals. Both are economical in nature and produce the most advanced value products when combined.

Mechanical properties – The primary properties of metals are hardness, strength, and ductility, which determine their condition. The silver plating on the copper wires makes everything in the right order. From improving hardness to storing tensile strength, the noble metal silver can meet all conditions. They are used in different applications from annealed (soft) to fully hard with cold work. In addition to this, silver also improves the ductility and malleability of the material, allowing them to be bent into any shape as per the requirements.

Physical properties – The physical properties of cables can be classified into two categories, that is, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity.

  • Thermal conductivity: Copper has higher thermal conductivity characteristics and silver is even used to improve it well. Copper and silver are better conductors of heat than steel and aluminum, making the materials transfer heat quickly. On the other hand, they also have a function to prevent overheating of built-in applications and to prevent sparks and fire.
  • Electric conductivity: It is one of the most common properties, which has transformed the entire world of the electrical industry. Due to this property, metals are used together to innovate high-quality solutions for wire, cable, strip, and busbars. Nothing would be possible without electrical conductivity and in other words, everything is incomplete without noble metals like copper and silver.
