Get rid of the “if only” mentality

Being the person you want to be is not a license to be happy. Unless you are happy with where you are, you will not be happy once you acquire what you thought you needed to be happy.

What I am saying is that joy does not come from external circumstances but from within.

Here is a list of things that people think make them happy:

“If only I…

“Won the lottery.”

“Get marry.”

“I had a new car.”

“He lived in a better house.”

“I went on vacation abroad.”

“He had the latest smartphone model.”

“I lost a lot of weight.”

Do you know what drives these desires?

Greed.

Other people always seem to have what we want.

This leads some people to resent those they believe to have everything under control.

The use of social networks has allowed the sin of greed to flourish, as many young people show the best of their lives online.

Others see all these things on Facebook and others have the perfect life.

One can understand someone who feels that their life is not going the way they would like it to be, but trying with those who have what they want is not going to improve their lot in life. On the contrary, jealousy and greed are negative attitudes that repel exactly what you want, and that includes reaching your ideal weight goal.

My point is this. Be the best YOU can be within your capabilities and don’t focus on others.

“Your attitude belongs to you and only you; no one can make you have a bad attitude if you don’t want it to.” -Joyce Meyer

Losing weight is a multi-billion dollar per year industry, so it’s pretty safe to say that there are plenty of people who are willing to pay top dollar for products and services that will help them lose weight. Being content with who you are will go a long way in helping you become the person you want to be.

This is not meant to be a contradiction or patronizing attitude, but rather to encourage you to be the kind of person that others enjoy being around.

Your happiness is something that cannot be obtained through your circumstances. You may feel good about yourself for a short time, but it doesn’t last. Therefore, it is important to approach every situation that arises with the right mindset.
