If you want to lose weight permanently, you may choose to use the Swank Diet. The Swank diet was created by Dr. Roy L. Swank as a treatment for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). It shows a significant change in MS patients.

It is a diet low in saturated fat that prevents you from eating red meat for a year. The low-fat diet replaces saturated fats in animals and hydrogenated vegetable oils with unsaturated fats from olive, sesame, etc. and fish.

The Basics of the Swank Diet
1. Stop eating red meat for a year.
2. After one year, up to four ounces of meat per week will be allowed. Restriction of red meat consumption except on special occasions.
3. Dairy products containing one or more percent butterfat are excluded from the diet food list.
4. Get rid of all processed foods that contain saturated fats
5. Limit your intake of saturated fat to 15 grams a day.
6. Suggested serving of 20-50 grams per day of intake of unsaturated fats (oils).
7. Multivitamin and mineral supplements rich in omega-3 should be taken daily. Serving size is one teaspoon or 4 capsules per day. Cod liver oil, vitamins and minerals are some examples.

You will need to eat red meat on an empty stomach for a year to prevent the amount of cytokines in your body from increasing. After one year, you will be allowed up to four ounces of red meat per week. The preparation of the meat will also affect your diet. Grilled and charcoal-grilled red meats should be avoided and restricted.

Reducing red meat consumption is about living a healthy life. Now you can choose to eat vegetables or fish. The exception to the meat rule is fish. It does not increase cytokine levels, it reduces them. Just make sure your fish doesn’t contain mercury and limit your fish intake to one serving per week. Or you can also choose to use fish oil supplements instead.

Patients who followed their recommended diet died at a rate of less than 5% compared to the 85% mortality rate for those who did not follow their diet. This study was carried out within the same period but with different ages of participants.
