With the departure of Jolin Zimmerman as the “enforcer” of alleged Amish mob boss Lebanon Levi, we are introduced, in the first episode of season two, to the newest cast member “Caleb.” Caleb is actually Caleb Isaac Meyer and, according to the show, is being tested for the role of “enforcer” with a number of minor assignments.

Well here we go again, folks! The producers of the Amish Mafia ask us once again to believe that someone in their twenties with a handful of misdemeanors on their “credit” is suddenly a tough thug capable of imposing the will of Lebanon Levi on the people of Lancaster County and your Amish community. What a joke! Meyer’s misdemeanor list actually paints him, at best, as a careless, irresponsible, and rather cowardly teenager, rather than a credible member of an “organized crime family.”

Consider Meyer’s gravest offense. It happened in 2007 when I was 18 years old. He was involved in a car accident that seriously injured one of the occupants of a horse and buggy while driving a dump truck on the Old Philadelphia Pike. The impact was severe enough to kill the horse instantly. Fortunately, the woman who sustained serious head injuries survived, not thanks to Caleb Meyer.

Meyer was charged with a felony. What was your crime? Our potential new “enforcer” for the Amish mob fled the scene of the accident and left. A tough guy! Finally, the young coward called his dad. The oldest of the Meyers arrived on the scene to speak to officers and eventually managed to convince his son to return to the scene and face the music. According to police investigators, “the teenager was visibly distressed when he returned to the scene.” Yes, there is no doubt that this is the man who will strike terror in the hearts of the people of Lancaster County. Hide under the bed, everyone! Here comes Caleb from the “Amish mob”!

Ironically, in episode # 1 of the first season of Amish Mafia, Boss Levi is depicted sending John Schmucker (another supposed “tough guy”, also known for fleeing the scene after causing a car accident) and Jolin to deal with an English”. who was allegedly involved in a buggy accident. The show shows Jolin administering “justice” for this heinous crime by firing a shotgun through the windshield of the man’s vehicle. Apparently being involved in a buggy accident only matters if you’re not looking for a role on the show.
