A very recent study claims that there is a correlation between lower rates of colon cancer and the use of vitamins A, E, C, calcium, potassium and folic acid. The study has shown that prolonged use of vitamins could decrease the risk of colon cancer by 57 percent.

This study was conducted in a group of more than 500 women and men between the ages of 33 and 62 who were diagnosed with colon cancer. They were questioned about the amount of vitamins they were taking before learning of their diagnosis. The patients were asked many questions about the dosage, frequency, and duration of the vitamins they were taking. Two classifications were made: once-daily token multivitamin sachets and high-concentration sachets. The study showed that most of the patients who took the multivitamin packs also took the high-potency supplements.

Most of the studies prior to this one agree that the risks of colon cancer are greatly reduced by the use of vitamin supplements, but none of them were able to identify the specific components of the vitamins that are responsible for this. Vegetables and fruits rich in the antioxidant vitamin and folic acid are known to reduce colon cancer risks, but again, no specific components of these foods were identified.

Several educational programs tried to increase the rate of consumption of fruits and vegetables, but none of them had any real success. It is recommended to eat at least five different types of these foods but in today’s society the intake of these foods decreases year by year. Society is being harassed by the fast food industry. These foods are very rich in carbohydrates that are very bad for your health, especially for people who are at risk of developing colon cancer. Fast food foods are very low in vitamin and protein content but it seems that American society has become addicted to them. And it’s not just children who want these foods, more and more adults are starting to eat only these products.

Knowing today’s society, colon cancer researchers recommend supplementing the diet with multivitamin packets rather than eating fruits and vegetables because they hope it will be more appealing to the general public.
