Finding and deciding on an RV service and repair center is no easy task. You can walk into a shop with incompetent technicians messing up the job and leaving more damage (and cost!) than before they walked into your facility. There’s no foolproof way to know if a shop can do the job right or not, but there are things you can do and think about ahead of time before trusting them with your precious car.

Ask around. Asking friends and RV co-owners is a great way to find out if an RV service center lives up to its promise. Were they satisfied with the service or repair of their RVs? Were the charges reasonable and worth it? If you’ve received negative feedback, make sure you know what it is.

A quality RV repair service employs experienced technicians who have many years of experience repairing and maintaining RVs. They are experts who can handle RV components such as electrical systems, plumbing, air conditioning, appliances, batteries and generators, awnings, cabinets and compartments, and other parts of an RV. They can do exterior and interior repairs to fiberglass components, window frames, internal and external walls, back cover and sheet metal replacements, and other essential jobs that need to be done.

A reliable RV service shop gives you a guarantee on their parts and services because they trust their skills and the quality standards of their replacement parts, from mechanical components to bathroom fixtures, countertops, and other home equipment.

A good RV service provider is transparent in all of their dealings. They are honest and direct with customers. They show the status of your RV and what needs to be done. They give their clients a detailed accounting of fees and charges.

A customer service oriented RV or RV service center has staff who are trustworthy, courteous and willing to explain anything the RV owner asks. They treat all customers with personalized attention and patience. You’ll get a good night’s sleep knowing your vehicle is in trusted hands.

When choosing an RV service and repair shop, get one that has a large inventory of retail parts and components to replace damaged ones. Service will be faster and parts prices lower than if they had to source from other dealers. A retail department also means you can get back on the road more quickly.

Common RV Repairs

Except for the wheels and engine of an RV, it’s not much different from a house in the parts of an RV that get damaged. If you’re the type who likes to get down on your knees and do the repairs yourself, you can save money by fixing up these easy DIY rebuilds and replacements.

1. Water System: Burst water pipes, leaky faucets, leaky toilet valves, and broken water pumps are just a few of the usual damages incurred on an RV, especially after a period of winter frost.

2. RV Structural Components: Punctured rubber roofing, broken window frames and cracked window panes, and damaged roof vents can all be gotten from hanging tree branches when you drive by in your RV .

For other repairs, like mechanical and propane systems, tire damage, suspension, and so on, I don’t trust myself enough to be competent to do them. I rely on my trusted RV service and repair center to keep my vehicle in tip-top condition so I don’t have any issues that ruin my family’s camping experience.
