Costa Rica is a beautiful country with a lot to do, but if you head there on vacation without an itinerary, you’ll spend a lot of time trying to figure out what places you want to see instead of seeing none. If you are heading to Costa Rica, it is in your best interest to make a schedule or itinerary and try to stick to it as much as possible. If you arrive in Costa Rica and decide to “just go with the flow” and do whatever you find fun, chances are you’ll end up spending all your time on the beach drinking drinks and getting a tan (which isn’t all bad). Do some research before heading to Costa Rica and find out what attractions and places interest you and plan your trip to visit those places.

If you are looking for fun things to do, here are some of the top sights in Costa Rica that everyone should see while visiting this adventurous country:

Volcano Helicopter Tours – This is a fantastic night time activity for tourists. Arenal Volcano National Park has some of the best views when it comes to gazing at pools of hot molten magma. Your pilot/tour guide will show you unimaginable aerial views and take you right next to the largest active volcanoes in Costa Rica. If you look closely, you can even see lava bubbling up from inside the calderas of volcanoes.

White Water Rafting: Costa Rica is famous for its white water rafting trips that traverse the country’s lush rainforests. These boating adventures are full of bumpy, adrenaline-pumping rides that change to smooth and serene cruises as you soak up the sun, wildlife, and beautiful rainforest vegetation that surrounds you.

Explore Different Exotic Beaches – Manuel Antonio National Park is a nature reserve that has beautiful white sand beaches and further out to the water is an amazing rainforest filled with beautiful and dense plant life. These forests are even populated by various types of adorable monkeys. These shores tend to be a bit more isolated than the main tourist beaches in the country. Whether you’re looking for a private getaway with the family or a romantic day trip with a close friend, Manuel Antonio National Park could be the perfect adventure.

Immerse yourself in the history of Costa Rica: If you are a history buff or looking to educate yourself, you should head to the Plaza de la Cultura, where you can find the National Theater and the Gold Museum. The area around the Plaza de la Cultura has some of the oldest colonial architecture in Costa Rica and the interior of these buildings is beautifully adorned with artistic gilt interiors. The area itself is impressive and the history behind each building is fascinating.

Costa Rica’s Famous Butterfly Farm – This may surprise you, but Costa Rica is South America’s largest exporter of farm-raised butterflies and is home to numerous insect and bug museums. The most famous insect exhibit is inside the Hotel Chalet Tirol, where Dr. Richard Whitten shows some of the most exotic species of indigenous bugs and insects.

Costa Rica has a lot to offer, and as long as you research where you want to go and the types of attractions you want to see while you’re there, you’ll have a great vacation. Bon Voyage and have a good trip!
